jamie’s pizza

Jamie’s Backyard Slice started with a simple love for great pizza. For years, I’ve been obsessed with making it—tweaking my dough recipe, experimenting with stretching techniques, and perfecting the art of launching pizzas into a blazing-hot oven. Friends and family kept telling me, “You should turn this into a business!” And eventually, I did. That’s how Jamie’s Backyard Slice was born.

Running the business has been a constant learning curve. The biggest challenge? Balancing speed and quality. Go too fast, and the pizza suffers. Go too slow, and hungry customers are left waiting. Quality is everything to me—I want every pizza I serve to be consistently excellent. If someone takes a bite and says, “That’s the best pizza I’ve ever had,” then I know I’ve done my job right.

Marketing has been another challenge. Where do I find the right customers? Are Facebook notice boards effective, or is it all about word of mouth? I’m constantly testing different approaches—sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t, but I’m always learning. Pricing is another puzzle. What feels fair for a high-quality, handmade product? Does my audience understand what I’m offering? These questions don’t have easy answers, but figuring them out is part of the journey.

The philosophy behind Jamie’s Backyard Slice is simple: bringing Neapolitan-style pizza to your backyard. There are plenty of great pizza operators in the area, but few offer what I do—a fully mobile pizza kitchen that can set up anywhere, for any size of event or party. Unlike a food truck, I’m not limited by vehicle access. I bring my ovens, my gazebo, and everything I need to serve incredible pizza in places where you wouldn’t expect it—gardens, sports clubs, country estates, beer gardens, even woodland clearings.

This is just the beginning. Over the next few months, I’m focused on growing the business—booking more pop-ups, catering more private events, and getting my pizza in front of as many people as possible. Right now, every single pizza counts. Every slice is an opportunity to build my reputation and bring people together over something simple, but special.

So, if you’ve had a slice, thanks for being part of the journey. If not, I’ll see you at the oven soon!
